Summer Internship – Marine Engineering
During your summer Internship you’ll find out all about our business and begin your work within the Engineering team, applying your skills and knowledge in support of a variety of technical projects and real life issues faced by business in what is a fast paced and technically challenging environment.
We’re committed to your development and success, so you’ll be monitored and encouraged every step of the way by your team and line manager.
Following successful completion of your internship with us, depending on your assessment over your internship and roles we have available, we may consider you for a position on one of our graduate programmes the following year.
Duties and responsibilities
The precise nature of your role will be determined by your skills and knowledge as well as the needs of the business at the time, but your duties and responsibilities will likely include:
Working in support of your team to find the best and most cost efficient technical solutions to problems/issues that arise during the day to day running of a shipping company (both owned and time chartered vessels).
Working on specific engineering projects in support of bp Shipping’s/BP groups net zero emissions objectives.
Building relationships both within bp and with our external partners, collaborating across functions, segments and teams providing expertise on all manner of marine engineering related topics.
Use your skills/experience to evaluate data sets and provide sound recommendations (based on pre-defined boundary conditions)
Demonstrating drive and commitment through the bp values with an emphasis on safety.
To apply for this role, you’ll need a master’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, aeronautical, aerospace or automotive engineering.
For this Summer internship, you will need to be in your penultimate year of study, or in your final year but continuing your education with a master’s degree in the next academic year.
