Job summary

The Global Business Services in Kuala Lumpur (GBS Asia) provides Finance, Tax and IT services to global and regional businesses. The main goal of GBS Asia is to deliver value added services and enhance process transformation for the various businesses in bp. GBS Asia is part of an integrated network of Global Business Service centres that support bpBP’s operations globally to provide cost optimisation and process standardisation through global delivery capabilities and enabling technologies, operational excellence benchmarked to industry standards, and World-class Human Capital Development to build an "Asset Talent Pool" that consistently delivers high quality performance.

The role will include but not limited to the following activities:-

  • Main lead for medium to high complexity transfer pricing projects or special projects assigned, ad hoc transfer pricing queries.
  • Under minimal supervision:
  • Preparation of transfer pricing documentation, implementing processes and procedures on a global and country specific basis.
  • Manage and support the annual delivery of transfer pricing local files that comply with local requirements including working with professional advisors.
  • Working with Finance/Accounting teams to ensure that transfer pricing policies are fully understood and robustly applied, through review and implementation of joint processes.
  • Work closely with the bp Tax’s Transfer Pricing Network to;
  • Reconcile the group’s transfer pricing methods and help to support the ongoing maintenance and implementation of the group’s head office recharge mechanisms and other intragroup transactions;
  • Help maintain BP’s transfer pricing policies, and develop procedures and documentation, and customising these for specific transfer pricing regimes;
  • Undertake or review benchmarking searches performed on available databases; and
  • Where possible, proactively bring to the attention to the Transfer Pricing Network any deficitin policies and their associated risks and opportunities for tax benefits.
  • Ensure the performance and documentation of internal controls in accordance with bp’s transfer pricing processes.
  • Assist the development and implementation of specific transfer pricing projects, including working where necessary with professional advisors.
  • Lead contact and interface for in-country tax advisor, bp business and finance.
  • Identifying, highlighting and consulting with stakeholders of potential risks and issues from transfer pricing perspective.
  • Identifying potential risks, issues and benefits based on analysed financial data and detailed transfer pricing analysis.
  • Recommending transfer pricing methodologies.
  • Assist Business and Legal to develop new / maintain existing intercompany agreements.
Service Management and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide technical analyst and/or feedback
  • Provide technical analyst and/or feedback regarding the impact of regulatory changes, projects, system upgrades or modifications to support the development of targeted responses, enhanced processes and systems focused on quality, control and compliance.
  • Assist Team Lead in addressing process gaps, identify inefficiencies and help embed a continuous improvements culture in the organisation, which include transfer pricing processes or joint processes with Business / Tax / Finance to ensure robustness in the implementation of transfer pricing policies.
  • Support the activities undertaken by the GBS Taxation Services team in respect of meeting strategic objectives around data transformation, process transformation and modernisation of operations.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders.
  • Provide training, troubleshooting documentation and continual on the job guidance for relevant team stakeholders.
Education and Experience
  • A university degree or professional qualification, in economics, accountancy or its equivalent. A tax qualification is advantageous.
  • Membership with the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia or Australian &/or UK &/or US equivalent is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 - 6 years’ post qualification with Transfer Pricing experience.
  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years’ experience in leading, developing and coaching teams.
  • Experience with IFRS &/or SAP is advantageous.
  • Good communication skills are required to interface at all levels in the business community, with Tax and with external parties.
  • Good level of competency with tax or transfer pricing technology tools, Microsoft Office suite of products including Power BI and sharepoint, online collaboration tools, and workflow tools.
