Job summary

This role is accountable for the Commercial, Operational and Safety performance of the American trucking service. The role will be a member of the Commercial Logistics Leadership team reporting to the VP of Commercial Midstream and Logistics.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining trucking strategy for Americas and coherent implementation of the strategy across America including the different costumer offers
  • Responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient operations of Thornton Transportation, including dispatching operations and transport availability (equipment, garage and TAR)
  • Responsible for sourcing, onboarding, performance management and business continuity of Thornton Transportation and 3rd party hauliers across Americas
  • Drive strong trucking operations with focus in operational efficiencies
  • Drive strong contract management of hauliers incorporating best practice in alignment with procurement
  • Ensure safety performance of the in-house operations and hauliers within operating boundaries of the dedicated business
  • Ensure supply reliability and silent running of the operations in collaboration with Product Solutions and Mobility and Convenience teams
  • Ensure financial performance delivery by influencing most efficient deployment of resources, continuous improvement programs and performance interventions
  • Ensure strong integration with midstream supply to optimise the supply chain for cost and resilience
  • Build and manage relationships with hauliers and within Thornton Transportation, to drive safety and performance culture and develop new joint business opportunities
  • Develop Truck Americas organisational capability and expertise including succession planning for key roles
  • Network closely with key collaborators including Mobility & Convenience and Aviation ensuring alignment and a strong understanding of business drivers and strategic needs
  • Provide truck logistics knowledge/expertise as required into product development strategy work
  • Support bp’s net zero ambitions with hauliers driving appropriate reporting and emission reduction and alternative bunker fuels where appropriate

  • Business or Engineering degree, Master's preferred
