We believe progression should always be based on ability. That is why we promote a positive environment where you can bring your true self to work. We believe that this ensures all our employees can deliver their best. To achieve this we have a number of initiatives that create an inclusive work environment for all.


BP Pride, the BP employee network for LGBT employees, has developed two core programmes. The Safe Space programme aims to provide all employees with tools to help them become an active ally and create a safe working space for everyone. The programme also aims to encourage employees to find the courage to stand up to inappropriate behaviours.


The Straight Allies Programme aims to create a supportive working culture across BP, in which allies proactively self-identify as such and create an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. To support the programme, an interactive toolkit is available that includes a quiz that helps people to avoid stereotyping and act inclusively, steps on how to become an ally, and instructional videos.


We have an established network of external LGBT partnerships which support our commitment to LGBT employees. BP is known for its progressive action in facilitating inter-energy awareness, and cross-industry networks on LGBT. As such, BP is now the highest-ranking energy company in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index.


BP is also a member of a number of LGBT groups, including Stonewall Global Champion, Stonewall Diversity Champion in the UK, Out and Equal Workplace Advocates in the US and Pink Dot in Singapore.
