Throughout LGBT Pride month, BP Pride business resource groups (BRGs) around the world are celebrating with pride parades and other activities that raise awareness of issues that impact the LGBT community.
It’s really straightforward: at BP, we believe that people are more likely to enjoy going to work, and perform better, if they’re allowed to be themselves - and that obviously includes being open about their sexualityLucy KnightBP Diversity and inclusion
BP Pride Houston, Chicagoland and London have focused on hosting ‘Safe Space,’ an interactive workshop that offers insights into the LGBT experience in the workplace. In addition to our internal LGBT celebrations, Anchorage, Houston, Chicago, London Pride groups marched in the local Pride parades. In Hungary BP employees visited the Vienna Pride Festival and also be took part in the Budapest Pride Festival.
BP Pride USA is also running a first ever transgender inclusion training programme among the human resources and senior leadership communities within BP, to improve awareness and understanding about gender identity and the transition process.
The sessions cover an overview of gender identity / expression, inclusive language, the transition process, and how to be an ally.
I’m very excited we are rolling out a training that helps our organization live up to its promise of inclusion for BP’s transgender employees and their allies. We all want to be respectful of our coworkers, but we don’t always know how to do that. This training helps us realize that goal with respect to our transgender colleagues.Drew StrellisBP Pride USA National One Team Lead
