20 June 2018 - BP deepens strategic cooperation with Zhejiang Xin Feng Ming and licenses latest generation PTA technology
BP and Xin Feng Ming Group Co., Ltd. (Xinfengming) entered an agreement to license BP’s latest generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) technology to Dushan Energy Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinfengming. BP and Xinfengming also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to deepen strategic cooperation along the polyester raw materials value chain and Xinfengming intends to deploy BP technologies for all Xinfengming’s future PTA and related investments.
27 February 2018 - BP licenses its latest generation PTA technology in Turkey
BP and SOCAR TURKEY ENERJI A.Ş (SOCAR Turkey) have entered into a licensing agreement for BP’s latest generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) technology. SOCAR Turkey intends to deploy the technology in its new 900,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) unit at Aliağa, Turkey, expected to come on stream by 2023 once the final investment decision is taken.

14 June 2017 - BP completes upgrade of South Carolina petrochemical facility
As part of a $200 million program, BP has completed the upgrade of its petrochemical facility near Charleston, S.C., that will significantly reduce the site’s energy use and emissions, and allow it to produce a new line of low-carbon products for the first time in the US.

BP, and Accsys Technologies through its subsidiary Tricoya Technologies Limited (TTL) and Medite have announced the creation of a consortium, Tricoya Ventures UK Limited (TVUK). BP, through its petrochemicals and venturing businesses will invest over $25 million in TTL and TVUK over a two year period.

6 January 2016 - BP agrees to sale of Alabama petrochemical complex
BP has agreed to sell its petrochemical complex in Decatur, Alabama, to Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, as part of a previously announced effort to refocus its global petrochemicals business for improved profitability and long-term growth. The divestment is in line with BP’s global petrochemicals strategy.
14 September 2015 - BP agrees third latest generation PTA licence with Ningxia Baota
BP and Ningxia Baota Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd. (a majority owned subsidiary of Baota Petrochemical Group) have signed an agreement to license BP’s latest generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) technology, the third such deal agreed by BP. Ningxia Baota intends to build a 1.2 million tonnes per annum (tpa) unit at the Ningxia Ningdong Energy and Chemical Zone in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, to produce PTA, the primary feedstock for polyesters used in the textile and packaging industry. Baota expects the PTA plant to come on stream in 2018.
31 August 2015 - BP licenses its latest generation PTA technology in Oman
BP and OMAN INTERNATIONAL PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES COMPANY (OMPET) (a joint venture between Oman Oil Company, LG International Corp and Takamul Investment Company) have entered into a licensing agreement for BP’s latest generation purified terephthalic acid (PTA) technology. OMPET intends to build a 1.1 million tonnes per annum (tpa) unit at Sohar, Oman, to produce PTA, the primary feedstock for polyesters used in the textile and packaging industry.
