600 millionth barrel produced from Greater Plutonio

Greater Plutonio FPSO in Block 18 off the cost of Angola, operated by bp and with Sinopec as partner, has recently reached and surpassed the production delivery milestone of 600 million barrels of oil

The milestone of the first bp operated asset in Angola has been reached despite the challenges of the current business environment imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions that followed. However, the team still managed to:

  • Keep outstanding 2020 Production performance in 1st semester delivering well above plan.
  • Water injection performance has been improved with more improvement activities planned to underpin the delivery of future production
  • Continuing delivery of significant improvements in flaring performance which earned the FPSO the first-ever low carbon Helios awards last year and fitting to bp’s low carbon agenda

The team is not resting on its success and is already looking forward into the future to overcome operational challenges and executing the future of the block with operations including moving the approved platina project into execute, potential infill wells and others.

‘’This remarkable achievement required an incredible One Team mindset not just throughout bp to deliver, but our close working relationships with our contractors, the Concessionaire and our shareholder Sinopec, to support our plans to deliver value. There will be many business and operational issues ahead to achieve the next production milestone but with our team’s resilience, I’m sure that we will continue to deliver value for Angola and bp“.

Adriano Bastos, Senior Vice President bp Angola
