Wherever we operate, BP seeks to generate positive social and economic impacts for communities, prioritising the contracting of local professionals to develop our activities and creating opportunities for the suppliers present in the regions where we operate.
In order to carry out oil and gas exploration and production activities, the company must comply with regulatory requirements, creating social projects for the communities adjacent to its operations. These obligatory projects developed by BP place local residents at the centre of its objectives, giving them an active voice and thus assertively meeting the immediate needs of communities.
BP also harnesses opportunities to develop voluntary actions identified in the communities in which it operates. In 2013, in the state of Bahia, an educational exhibition about the oil industry was organised for communities from seven municipalities. Learn more.
