The Hydrodec plant in Canton, Ohio, US

To encourage sustainable consumption and production, the member countries of the United Nations have committed to substantially reducing waste generation by 2030 through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse1

Generating electricity involves the use of large volumes of special oils that are vital to the electrical, chemical and physical performance of electrical power grids around the world. But their disposal represents a significant environmental and safety challenge.

By buying carbon offsets, Target Neutral is supporting finance for a re-cycling process that not only reduces carbon but eliminates toxic co-pollutants.

The Hydrodec project in Canton, Ohio, US, involves the collection and recycling of spent oil by re-refining it into new, virgin quality oil using a process that is 67% less energy intensive than refining new crude oil.

Used oil can be re-refined many times; each instance avoids an incineration event and the introduction of new virgin-refined oil

This also avoids incineration, further reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and avoiding the risk of toxic co-pollutants such as dioxins.

Even better, it means that the used oil can be re-refined many times; each instance avoids an incineration event and the introduction of new virgin-refined oil.
