Achieving carbon neutral status

Becoming certified as ‘carbon neutral’ demonstrates that you are in action on the challenge of climate change as well as helping to unlock a range of economic, social and environmental benefits for local communities around the world
Achieving carbon neutral status

It can help you identify carbon and cost savings in your business, enhance your brand and customer offer, motivate your staff and create competitive advantage.

Certified ‘carbon neutral’ means that there is no net increase in the global emissions of greenhouse gases as a result of your business operations, product or service.

It requires that a carbon reduction in absolute terms or in emissions intensity is achieved, and carbon offsets are then used for the remainder of the emissions.

And it is awarded based on an ongoing commitment to reduce carbon emissions in absolute terms over time as part of a long-term Carbon Reduction Plan.

That’s where BP Target Neutral ‘five steps to certification’ comes in.
