BP is celebrating ten successful years of partnership with the British Paralympic Association (BPA). This relationship has helped prepare ParalympicsGB to compete at five Paralympic Games
BP is proud to partner with British Athletics when the IAAF Diamond League meeting comes to London in July for the 2018 Müller Anniversary Games. The world's best track and field athletes return to the Olympic Stadium including BP's supported British para athletes Richard Whitehead and Kare Adenegan
Over the last decade, the team has grown from strength to strength. Since BP joined the BPA's family of partners, ParalympicsGB has produced historic and record-breaking performances rising in the medals tables from third place overall in London 2012 to second place in Rio 2016, and gaining double the pre-Games medal target in Sochi 2014.
PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games was the greatest success in ParalympicGB's history with the team competing in a record five sports. Seven medals – one gold, four silver and two bronze – were won by Millie Knight and Brett Wild, Menna Fitzpatrick and Jennifer Kehoe in downhill, super-G, super combined, giant slalom and slalom skiing.
We're now looking forward to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
In addition to BP's long-standing support for the whole ParalympicsGB team, we are pleased to announce that Paralympic athletes Richard Whitehead and Kare Adenegan have been appointed BP Ambassadors through to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and Paralympian Stef Reid were previous BP Ambassadors.
British Athletics recently announced a new partnership with BP for the 2018 Müller Anniversary Games. BP will support the Games, including the para athletics events being featured as part of the two-day programme as British Athletics continue to lead the way in promoting para athletes. BP’s Ambassadors Richard Whitehead and Kare Adenegan have been confirmed to compete at July’s event.
BP's history supporting sport in the UK
BP began an association with Olympic and Paralympic sports in 2008 when we became a partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then we have been a proud partner of both the British Olympic Association until 2016, and the BPA.
Beyond that, BP has supported a number of other high profile sporting events including the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the London 2017 IPC World Para Athletics Championships.
Within the UK we are a corporate friend of the Superhero Series. Find out more about the Superhero Tri.
