Giving back to the community we reside in while doing something really useful and fun: this is corporate social responsibility in action!
One of the key areas of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy is to support local initiatives of the neighborhood we live in: the South-Pest area and district 9 in Budapest and Csongrád County. We encourage BP employees to support community organizations and charities through volunteering and charitable giving. Employees in Hungary can spend two days a year doing volunteer work with a charity organization. BP in Hungary also organizes team building days ranging from painting a school classroom, to planting allotments at a mother’s shelter.
In May each year, BP in Hungary hosts a charity event that includes team building too.
In 2018 we supported a social institution in Szeged. They requested gardening and garden furniture renovation support. Our team jumped onto the opportunity to help transform the place: planting trees and flowers, removing sprawling ivy or polishing and painting playground items.
In Budapest more than 100 employees volunteered to clean a part of Haller Park, a public park near our office. With support and guidance from the local authorities we renewed the dog run, painted benches and revamped the rainproof pagoda. Employees also refurbished the playground furniture, planted trees and flowers and painted fences at the Csudafa Óvoda kindergarten in district 9, who BP has a long-standing relationship with.
Our BP volunteer teams enjoy making a real difference for the communities in which we operate: support and help in action!
