Subitu Mart develops market for local Teluk Bintuni products

Teluk Bintuni regent Petrus Kasihiw officiated the opening of SUBITU Mart's Bintuni branch.

SUBITU (an abbreviation of Suku Bintuni Bersatu) is part of Tangguh LNG's indigenous enterprise development programme.

Petrus Kasihiw was accompanied by the head of SKK Migas (Upstream oil and gas government body) Papua and Maluku office, A. Rinto Pudyantoro, and BP Indonesia senior external affairs, Hidayat Alhamid. Also present at the launch was SUBITU Mart's partners in farming and fishery product supply. SUBITU Mart is a society-based economic institution (SBEI), with a vision of becoming the market of choice for local Teluk Bintuni products, and a pioneer SBEI in supporting the development of said local products.

SUBITU Mart is a continuation of the success story of three other SUBITU business units which have received full support from the Teluk Bintuni regency government and SKK Migas, representing the central government.

In his opening remarks, Petrus Kasihiw said: "The launch of SUBITU Mart symbolizes the rise of the adat community's economy. SUBITU plays a role in further enhancing the capability of indigenous people of Teluk Bintuni, to be independent and run a sustainable business."
