Senior director of media affairs, upstream
Brett Clanton leads the U.S. media affairs team from BP’s U.S. headquarters in Houston. He joined BP in 2012 and is the main point of contact for BP’s U.S. Lower 48 onshore oil and gas business, as well as for Alternative Energy, BP’s North American natural gas and power marketing and trading business and other U.S. business activities and corporate issues. Prior to joining BP, Clanton was a newspaper reporter for 13 years.

Mike Abendhoff joined the U.S. media affairs team in 2015 and is the primary press contact for BP’s U.S. downstream business. This includes oil refining, petrochemicals and fuel retailing and marketing. Based in Chicago, Abendhoff has been with BP and predecessor companies for over 30 years. Prior to joining the media affairs team, worked in a number of roles across BP’s downstream business.
Director of media affairs, gulf coast and alternative energy
Jason Ryan joined the BP U.S. media affairs in 2013 and is the main press contact for BP’s upstream oil and gas business in the U.S. This includes the Gulf of Mexico, Upstream Technology and BP’s Global Wells and Global Project Organizations. Before BP, Ryan worked for nearly 15 years at ABC News, covering national security and legal matters. He is based in Washington, D.C.

Megan Baldino joined the U.S. Media Affairs team in 2018 and supports BP Alaska, BP Shipping and other BP business activities in the U.S. Based in Anchorage, she previously held corporate communications roles in the oil and gas and the telecommunications industries, and before that worked for more than a decade as a broadcast journalist in Alaska.
