bp Target Neutral, bp’s voluntary carbon offsetting programme, has expanded its portfolio of carbon offsetting projects
BP Target Neutral expands 2019 carbon offset portfolio

It has made new investments in carbon credits generated by projects in the United States, Indonesia and Brazil which form part of a portfolio that already includes credits purchased from other projects in China, India, Mexico and Zambia.   

The portfolio has the capacity to reduce up to 1.17 million tonnes* of carbon emissions per year while improving the livelihoods of more than 1.3 million people* through better access to energy, health, education, and employment opportunities as well as protecting more than 40,000 hectares of globally significant habitat.

Castrol and Hyundai are offsetting over 84 million kilometres of motorist emissions in Mexico

The agreement means that the carbon generated by all the kilometres driven by Hyundai branded vehicles in Mexico will be offset by bp Target Neutral, equivalent to more than 2,100 trips around the earth

Castrol and Hyundai Motor in Mexico have launched the bp Target Neutral program that will neutralize carbon emissions generated by Hyundai vehicles, through the purchase of carbon credits.


Every Hyundai vehicle that is serviced by Hyundai at 10,000 kilometres, will have the oil changed with Castrol and its annual carbon footprint offset by bp Target Neutral.

First China dealership certified carbon neutral through Castrol Target Neutral

Rising levels of car ownership and ambitious targets to cut carbon emissions are part of the challenge facing China as it continues to develop and grow. The country is the world’s largest car producer and distributor - with 28 million new vehicles sold in 2018. China’s government aims to cut the country’s carbon emissions per unit of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 60-65% from 2005 levels by 2030

Taking delivery of new aircraft is always a special moment for an airline company
 Main Content BP Target Neutral provides carbon offsets for Delta Air Lines first carbon-neutral delivery of new aircraft

It was made even more special in July for Delta Air Lines, when the first of twenty of its new aircraft – an Airbus A321 - made a carbon neutral delivery flight from its final assembly line in Alabama to Delta’s facility in Kansas City, US.

Delta turned to Air bp to supply biofuels for the delivery flights. Air bp is supplying sustainable aviation fuel, produced by Neste, for 20 delivery flights. bp Target Neutral then arranged the carbon offsets required for the delivery flights to become carbon neutral.
