bp's US refineries

bp's US refining strategy focuses on operating sophisticated, feedstock-advantaged refineries tied to strong logistics and fuels infrastructure. bp has completed a number of major investments in its US facilities to increase production and boost efficiency.

bp’s Whiting refinery, its largest anywhere in the world, is constructing a new naphtha hydrotreating unit that will significantly reduce the amount of sulfur in its fuels. The new unit became operational in 2020.

At the bp-Husky refinery, the team recently completed a significant maintenance turnaround to improve reliability and has commissioned two projects to help reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

Over the past decade, bp has invested more than $1.5 billion in capital improvements at its Cherry Point Refinery and it is the first and only refinery in the Pacific Northwest capable of manufacturing diesel made from biomass-based feedstocks.
