bp on behalf of its co-venturers in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Shah Deniz, and South Caucasus Pipeline projects – SOCAR, TPAO, PETRONAS, MOL, LUKOIL, NICO, Equinor, INPEX, ExxonMobil, SGC, ITOCHU, ONGC, TOTAL, Eni – today held an event to celebrate the success of 63 newly-admitted higher school students from disadvantaged families. They are the participants in the “Build your Future” project - an initiative bp and its co-venturers have been supporting for five years.
The project is part of bp’s and its co-venturers’ commitment to enhancing capacity-building and social development in the neighbouring communities. It provides one-year extensive trainings to a large group of 11th graders selected from vulnerable families helping them prepare for university admission. To date, the project has benefited around 400 disadvantaged families representing various communities in the Garadagh, Kurdamir, Ujar, Agdash, Yevlakh and Hajigabul districts.
In total, some 334 young talented people out of 389 participants in the five phases – around 90%, have been successful, meeting the requirements of the higher school entrance exams and becoming students at various universities and colleges. Out of 74 participants in this year’s programme 52 have been admitted to universities and 11 to colleges with seven people scoring over 500 including two with over 600 scores.
Addressing today’s event Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s Vice President for the Caspian region, Communications and Advocacy, said: ”We are pleased to have been supporting this project for five years and, excited by its overall success, have decided to continue the initiative into 2022. We believe the project is a good investment in the future of the communities we work with. It is an opportunity to develop a highly educated and highly skilled young generation who will ensure the sustainable future of the communities they represent.”
The total value of the five phases of the project is around 1,3 million AZN with the duration of one year for each phase.
The project is implemented by the “Build Your Future” LLC.
