Today in Baku, BP as operator of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG), Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), Shah Deniz and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) projects announced the award of a $600 million contract to AMEC for the provision of engineering and small project management services.

 

The contract will cover the ACG and Shah Deniz offshore facilities and ACG, Shah Deniz, BTC and SCP onshore facilities at the Sangachal Terminal as well as the Supply Base at Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory (BDJF).

 

The award of the contract follows an extensive and complex sourcing activity that spanned some 12 months. The duration of the contract is five years with two possible four-year extensions. The work will be carried out in Baku with involvement of the local company Azfen.

 

Under the contract AMEC will provide:

  • engineering studies, design activities and labour aimed at identifying improvements in the efficiency of the process plant and equipment, design of modifications to BP-operated onshore and offshore facilities required to deliver improvements in process and plant efficiency or safety;
  • implementation of repairs and maintenance of the existing plant and machinery;
  • design, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning support for brown/green field facilities during implementation of projects as well as start-up support;
  • support for delivery of minor modifications by the onshore and offshore engineering services teams

 

“We have been using AMEC’s engineering and small project management services on our offshore brown-field projects since 2004. Under this new contract AMEC’s scope of services to BP-operated projects will expand to cover brown-field projects at the onshore Sangachal Terminal and the Supply Base at Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory (BDJF). We are pleased that under the new contract both BP, the operator of the offshore and onshore facilities, and AMEC will maintain their commitment to developing local engineers as part of their staff nationalization programmes”, said Bruce Luberski, BP’s Vice-President for Azerbaijan Major Projects.
