BAKU – BP confirmed today the appointment of Jim Cowie, Vice President Wells, Azerbaijan, effective from November 15. This follows Gary Christman’s appointment to BP’s Global Wells Institute. The Vice President Wells role is accountable for the delivery of all well activity in the Region.
Jim Cowie has 32 years experience in the oil industry in leadership and management roles specialising in Drilling and Completions operations and engineering. Jim is well established as an expert in the wells community. His expertise includes complex high pressure / high temperature projects, and wells drilled from both mobile and platform rigs. Jim will lead the team of over 300 wells experts in Baku.
In addition, BP confirmed that 10 new specialist engineers will join the wells team in Baku. They have been hand-picked from BP’s global assets – Alaska, North America, North Sea, Angola and Egypt. These individuals bring unique capability to the Region with combined experience amounting to around 200 years.
