BP has joined the competition as partof its long-term commitment to helping the development of local small and medium sized businesses. Together with its co-venturers, BP has been funding a multi-million dollar capacity-building programme for local enterprises since 2007.

BP and itsco-venturers are committed to supporting local business development. The EnterpriseDevelopment Programme (EDP), initiated and funded by BP and its co-venturers, aims to assist local companies to improve their capability and reach international standards to enhance their competitiveness regionally and globally. The programme also contributes to BP and co-venturers’ efforts aimed to increase local content of their contracts in Azerbaijan and the region.
Since the launch of EDP in 2007 till the end of 2019, BP and its co-venturers spent $8 million to support the development of more than 2000 companies, of which 280 have to date completed the full programme.As a result, most of these companies have been able to secure hundreds of millions of dollars international contracts including those with BP in Azerbaijan.
