Chirag Oil Project draft ESIA produced and published by BP on behalf of AIOC partners

BP as the operator on behalf of its partners in Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) announces that as part of its work programme for Azeri-Chirag and Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) development the Chirag Oil Project draft Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) document has been produced and published by BP on behalf of AIOC partners.


The document examines the potential environmental and social impacts of the full Chirag Oil Project activities, and describes the recommended mitigation measures.

 

There are following major components of the Chirag Oil Project:

  • a new offshore oil and gas platform - West Chirag Production, Drilling and Quarters platform (WC-PDQ) will be installed between the existing Chirag-1 and Deepwater Gunashli (DWG) platforms on the ACG contract area
  • infield pipelines will be installed offshore to connect the new platform to the existing ACG subsea oil and gas pipelines
  • infield pipelines will also be installed for the transfer of produced water and injection water from the new platform to the nearby DWG facilities

 

The full draft document and the Executive Summary have been produced in Azerbaijani and English and are available on BP Caspian website.

In addition, BP will also hold an open public meeting to discuss the proposed Chirag Oil Project ESIA. BP invites interested parties to attend the event which will take in Shusha Meeting Room at the Hyatt Meeting & Conference Center (1 Bakikhanov st.) on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 from 14.00 to 17:30.

 

Presentations will be made by BP, and questions and comments from the audience will be welcome.
