BP on behalf of its co-venturers in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG), Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), Shah Deniz (SD), and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) projects is pleased to announce the award of a major grant to support economic development of the Khatinli community in the Tovuz district.
As part of BP and co-venturers’ Community Development Initiatives this project is aimed at supporting the Khatinli community efforts to enhance their economic development through strengthening the agricultural sector. The project will achieve this through implementation of a series of activities identified as the main support areas.
These include introduction of an array of new crops to be used on the production of high quality fodder positively impacting the quality and size of the livestock; design and building of a processing facility for the production of the high quality fodder; introduction of a programme of artificial insemination for cattle breeding resulting in higher quality livestock herds; facilitation of the introduction and use of biogas the resulting organic fertilizer composting; assistance to the community in upgrading and creating high quality crops and livestock by providing education, new farming technologies and methods; market sub-sector value chain development through the crop, livestock, storage and information management improvements; design and building of a cold storage facility to provide additional economic opportunities; establishment of a LLC (Limited Liability Company) for the project’s Fodder Facility, Cold Storage Warehouse and Artificial Insemination services; establishment of management, financial and operational structures.
The project will be implemented by the Ganja Agribusiness Association (GABA) – a local non-governmental organisation.
