We aim to give our candidates a world-class experience. That’s why we’ve created our candidate charter
The guiding principles of the Charter are brought to life throughout our recruitment process. Take a look below to see those guiding principles and how they support our recruitment process:
Our aspiration is to deliver a world-class candidate experience that helps us to attract and engage the best people. We work hard to deliver this experience at all times; however, we’re only human so we might not always get it completely right.
That’s why we regularly survey a large number of candidates so that we can understand what we do well and what we can do better. In our last candidate experience survey, 8 out of 10 new hires told us that our recruitment process was ‘good’ or ‘excellent’. We’re really pleased with this as it exceeds the external corporate benchmark.
So what did candidates particularly like? Feedback from the survey told us that our job descriptions are extremely clear, our interviews are relevant to the job and we go out of our way to welcome candidates and treat them with respect. However, we’ve also learned that we can make the overall recruitment process clearer and give more detailed insight into working at BP and how we help new hires find their feet. We’re working on these things right now.
If you’re successful, we’ll do all we can to help you settle into your new job. As well as keeping in touch with you following your job offer, we’ll have everything ready for your arrival. You’ll meet your line manager and buddy on your first day – your buddy will be someone who knows the ropes and can share their knowledge with you. Your role will be explained clearly to you and you’ll know what training you can expect and where you can go for help.
