Our code of conduct is our guide to doing the right thing and explains how our values should guide our decisions
The BP Code of Conduct, updated in July 2014, is our guide to doing the right thing in business. It is founded on our values and clarifies the ethics and compliance expectations for everyone who works at BP. Our code reflects a principles-based approach, where rules are not stated explicitly and everyday business decisions will be guided by our values, with reference to other resources where relevant.
The main structure of the code remains the same, with sections covering health, safety and the environment; our people, our partners and suppliers, governments and communities; and protecting our assets. Each section contains key principles and expectations, and advice on where to find further information.
Having one set of values and behaviours and clear ethical expectations in our code of conduct helps us make choices in a consistent way, around the globe, in many different contexts. Each section of the code is clear for everyone – wherever they work.
