My Surf Life Saving Story

Bright orange BP Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB) have become a very familiar sight on New Zealand beaches, and we’re donating another IRB to a deserving Surf Life Saving Club in 2017!

At a cost of around $25,000 we know it’s not easy to fundraise for a new IRB. That’s why we’re giving clubs the opportunity to get a brand new one, on us. The BP Surf Rescue IRB will come complete with all the trimmings – an engine, trailer, fuel bladder, two personal floatation devices and $100 worth of fuel.

How to enter

Tell us your club story and explain how a new IRB would benefit your club or community.
A panel of judges will select four finalists. BP staff and partners from all around the country will then vote to select the winner. The winning club will be notified on 20 February 2017.

Entries have now closed and are being reviewed by our panel of judges. Click here for full terms and conditions.

Celebrating 49 years of partnership

We’re proud to have partnered with Surf Life Saving New Zealand for almost 50 years.

More than 60% of the rescues undertaken each season involve an IRB, so they’re integral in helping surf lifeguards to save lives on our beaches every day. That’s why we continue to support the IRB fleet with initiatives just like this one. As well as providing each of the 74 Surf Life Saving Clubs around the country with a $500 BP gift card at the start of each season, we also fund the BP Rescue of the Month and BP Leaders for Life programmes.
