23 December - SOCAR and BP-operated AIOC sign principles of agreement on future development of the ACG oil field in Azerbaijan to 2050

15 August - ACG produced its three billionth barrel of oil since the start of production from the Chirag platform in 1997

2015

3 September-Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan loaded the 3000th tanker at Ceyhan

13 February-Central Azeri celebrated its 10-year anniversary

2014

20 September- BP together with its co-venturers celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Contract od the Century

21 April – Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan loaded the 2500th tanker at Ceyhan.

28 January - Start up of production at West Chirag.

2013

16 September-The topsides unit for West Chirag was safely installed onto the jacket in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field.

April -The jacket for the West Chirag platform sailed away from the Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory and was safely installed on the pre-installed template in its permanent location.

2012

7 November - Chirag celebrated 15th anniversary of successful production since first oil.

23 October - The West Chirag platform jacket construction at Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory completed.

18 May - Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field marked 2 billionth barrel production.

2010

13 September - Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan carries one billionth barrel of crude oil to world markets.

9 March - $6 billion investment sanctioned for the Chirag oil project.

2008

22 April - ACG Deepwater Gunashli production start up.

2006

12 October - ACG East Azeri production start up.

13 July – Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) celebrates full commissioning. The official inauguration of the Turkish section of the BTC oil export pipeline

4 June – BTC lifts First Oil from Ceyhan.

26 May - Central Azeri First gas injection.

5 January -Production begins at the West Azeri platform

2005

12 October – Inauguration of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline by the Presidents of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

25 May - Inauguration of the Azerbaijan section of the BTC oil export pipeline by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

14 February - ACG Central Azeri production startup.

December - ACG West Azeri production start up.

2004

16 October - “Golden Weld” ceremony on the Azerbaijan-Georgian border where the joints connecting the Azerbaijan and Georgia sections of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline were symbolically welded together by the Presidents of the two host countries, HE Excellences President Ilham Aliyev and President Mikheil Saakashvili.

20 September - Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Phase 3 sanctioned. 10th anniversary of the Contract of The Century.

3 February - BTC signs Project Finance Agreements.

18 September - Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Phase 2 and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan projects sanctioned.

2001

30 August - Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Phase 1 project sanctioned.

1999

20 September - Celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Contract of The Century.

17 April - The Presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine inaugurate the Western Route Export Pipeline and the Supsa Terminal on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea.

8 April - Shareholders lift first tanker from Supsa, Georgia.

1998

10 December - First barrels of Early Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) oil pumped into the Western Route pipeline system

24 March -Shareholders lift first tanker from Novorossiysk, Russia.

12 January - First barrels of Early AIOC oil pumped into the Northern Route pipeline system.

1997

12 November - The production of First Oil from Chirag officially celebrated as a public holiday in conformity with the Decree of H.E. Heydar Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Republic. The Sangachal terminal inaugurated.

7 November - First Oil produced from the Chirag-1 platform.

1996

24 August - H.E. President Heydar Aliyev inaugurates the upgraded Dada Gorgud semi-submersible drilling rig. On the same day President Aliyev also inaugurates Azerbaijan International Operating Company's newly refurbished office, named Villa Petrolea II.

8 March - The Governments of the Azerbaijan Republic and Georgia sign the Intergovernmental Agreement on the transit of Azerbaijan oil via the pipeline from Baku to Supsa.

18 January - The Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation sign the Intergovernmental Agreement on the transit of Azerbaijan oil via the pipeline from Baku to Novorossyisk.

1995

9 October - The third Steering Committee approves the Early Oil Project as well as the two Early Oil export options – the Northern through Russia and the Western through Georgia.

24 January - The first Steering Committee takes place. H.E. President Heydar Aliyev addresses the Committee.

1994

12 December - The Azerbaijan Parliament ratifies the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), and the AIOC is established to implement it.

20 September - State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the consortium of foreign oil companies sign the Agreement on the Joint Development and PSA for the ACG portion of the Gunashli fields in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.
