$2,000 scholarships are awarded annually to academically promising students from New York City, Long Island, Westchester County and northern New Jersey to assist them in funding their educational pursuits. Awards are based on personal essays, academic performance, extracurricular activities, work experience, individual goals and demonstrated financial need.

Nearly 150 guests at the event heard from Paralympic athlete and medalist Tatyana McFadden, who delivered a keynote.

Vice president of Sales, Rob Moore, served as the master of ceremonies for the event. Craig Bealmear, CFO for Fuels, North America, presented the awards to students.

This program is a wonderful example of the many ways BP, along with our dealers and brokers, are committed to giving back to our communities. There is no better investment we can make than contributing to the education of these students.

BP employees, and owners and operators of BP sites in New York and New Jersey began the Community Scholarship Program as a way to invest in the success of youth in the communities where BP branded stations are located.

Following the reception, a fundraiser was held to generate funds for scholarships to be awarded in 2019. This year, 456 dealers, brokers, vendors and contractors supported the program. Nearly $200,000 was raised for future scholarships. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to nearly 2,000 students.
