Fuels
What is Invigorate®

Invigorate® is bp’s exclusive proprietary detergent additive found in all three grades of bp gasoline with Invigorate®—bp Regular, bp Silver (midgrade), and Amoco Ultimate® (premium).

Fuel additives are good! In fact, the US government requires a minimum amount of deposit-control additive to be present in all US fuels – but all grades of bp gasoline with Invigorate® go beyond these minimum standards in an effort to provide additional benefits to drivers who use our fuel.

What does Invigorate® do?
A new and improved version of bp gasoline with Invigorate® was introduced in April 2016, and we’re proud to say this version is our best fuel ever—with versatility for both conventional port fuel injector engine technology, and emerging direct injection engine technology. It has 10 times better protection against intake valve deposits than ordinary, minimum-detergency fuels. Keeping intake valves clean is important because dirty deposits from ordinary fuels that form in engines can lead to a variety of problems—hesitation, rough starts, loss in fuel economy, and increased emissions to name a few. bp gasoline with Invigorate® not only helps prevent deposits from forming in the first place but can even help clean deposits left by minimum detergency fuels —giving drivers more miles with every tank¹.
Dirty and clean valves

Additionally, bp gasoline with Invigorate® protects against sludge which can build up over time in your engine’s motor oil system, preventing oil flow to critical engine parts and can result in catastrophic engine failure².

1 Ordinary Fuel refers to minimum detergency gasoline. Dirt refers to deposits on critical engine parts. Requires continuous use over 5000 miles. Restores an average of 3 - 5 miles per tank that had been lost due to deposits. Based on fleet testing representative of the U.S. car population. Fuel economy can be affected by many factors. Benefits may be more significant in older model vehicles

2 With continuous use. Based on driving style. Follow vehicle manufacturers’ recommendations for oil changes.

Why are you suddenly advertising up to 25 more miles per tank, previously you have always advertised 3-5 miles per tank?

Previously, we have advertised the cleanliness benefits of bp gasoline with Invigorate® as it relates to the US car fleet. The new claim of up to 25 more miles per tank is based on full size half ton pickup trucks during highway driving3 and is only applicable to our premium grade, Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®. We have proven the benefits with an extensive testing program.

3 Based on median difference between 93 octane Amoco Ultimate and 87 octane minimum detergent E10 fuels in late model full size half ton pickup trucks using EPA Highway Driving Cycle (HWFET).  Assumes 100% of fuel in tank will be used.  Results will vary based on what you drive, how you drive, and other factors.

I don’t drive a pickup – I don’t do much highway driving – I only drive in the city – will I get the ‘up to 25 more miles’ benefit?

The new claim of up to 25 more miles per tank is based on full size half ton pickup trucks during highway driving3 and is only applicable to our premium grade, Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®. This benefit of Amoco Ultimate® is intended as the first of a series covering other driving cases and vehicles.

Why is the “up to 25 miles further" claim differentiated?
The 25 MPT claim differentiates Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate® from 87 octane minimum detergent fuel. No other competitor in the marketplace has made a quantitative fuel economy claim of this magnitude.
What is this claim comparing against?
This claim is based on the median fuel economy difference between 93 octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate® and 87 octane minimum detergent E10 fuels in late model full size half ton pickup trucks using EPA Highway Driving Cycle (HWFET).
How did bp land on 25 miles?
This number is based on the median fuel economy difference between 93 octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate® and 87 octane minimum detergent E10 fuels in late model full size half ton pickup trucks using EPA Highway Driving Cycle (HWFET). It assumes 100% of fuel in tank will be used.
Are bp gasolines with Invigorate® also suitable for older vehicles?

bp gasolines with Invigorate® are specially designed to remove existing engine dirt in all on-road engine technologies and protect against its build up4. You can enjoy using bp gasolines with Invigorate® no matter what you drive - old or new, large or small. However, if in doubt you should always check your owner’s manual.

4 Dirt refers to deposits on critical engine parts

Is Invigorate® the same as in Shell [other competitor] fuels? Is this a bp innovation?

Only bp gasolines contain Invigorate®; it’s the name we give to our innovative formula which was developed and rigorously tested by bp scientists over 5 years to deliver these fuels’ special ability to remove engine dirt4. bp gasolines with Invigorate® are only available at bp and Amoco retail stations.

4 Dirt refers to deposits on critical engine parts

Are bp gasolines with Invigorate® suitable for all engines?
Yes. bp gasolines with Invigorate® are specially designed to offer a range of benefits in all on-road gasoline engine technologies. You can enjoy using bp gasolines with Invigorate® no matter what you drive - old or new, truck, car or motorcycle. However, if in doubt you should always check your owner’s manual.
What are the benefits of bp gasolines with Invigorate®?

Dirt can form and build up in engines which may make them feel less responsive and use more fuel4. That’s why we designed bp gasolines with Invigorate® to tackle the hidden problem of dirt. These are our best ever range of dirt-busting fuels; over time they remove the dirt in your engine that can be left behind by minimum detergent fuels and help stop it building up again. With continuous use bp gasolines with Invigorate® help your engine perform as the manufacturer intended.5 They can give you more miles per tank1, deliver a smoother drive6, and help reduce the risk of unplanned and costly visits to the mechanic.7

Our premium fuel, Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®, cleans faster than bp Regular and bp Silver. Amoco Ultimate® can also deliver a significant improvement in fuel economy - up to 25 miles more per tank for full sized half ton pickup trucks in highway driving.3

For the best results and optimal fuel economy benefits we recommend the continuous use of Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®.

Is the Invigorate® in bp Amoco Ultimate® the same as in bp Regular and bp Silver gasolines?

Yes. All bp gasolines contain our innovative Invigorate® formula and can remove the engine dirt that cannot be prevented by minimum detergent fuels as well as help to stop it forming again.4 Our premium grade, Amoco Ultimate®, contains more Invigorate® and provides faster cleaning than bp Regular and bp Silver.

Do you have to use bp gasolines with Invigorate® all the time to get benefits?

bp gasolines with Invigorate® start working to fight the effects of dirt from the moment you start your engine and over time remove dirt and help protect against its build-up4. However, continuous use is required to help your engine work and keep working as the manufacturer intended. For the best results and optimal fuel economy benefits we recommend you choose our premium grade, Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®.8

8 Invigorate® optimizes your engine’s performance from the harmful effects of deposits caused by minimum detergent fuels. With continuous use, depending on what you drive and how you drive.

Do bp gasolines with Invigorate® contain ethanol?
By federal and state regulation, nearly all gasoline sold by retailers in the US has up to 10% ethanol blended into it to comply with the US Renewable Fuel Standards as part of the Energy Independence and Security Act. A small amount of bp stations may sell ethanol-free gasoline (which is labelled accordingly), but this is typically used in off-road vehicles like ATVs or boats.
Can you prove the benefits you claim?
Yes. bp has a long history of conducting in-house performance testing in support of our fuels and lubricants. We spent 5 years developing and rigorously testing bp gasolines with Invigorate®. In this time, we tested our fuels for thousands of hours in engines and vehicles.  Additionally, the vehicles in this illustration have been tested at a respected 3rd party test organization and the results endorsed by an independent engineering consultancy.
Amoco Ultimate® is 91 Octane in my area. Will I still get the ‘go further’ benefit?
91 Octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate® gives similar results when compared to regular gasolines in vehicles that can go further with our 93 Octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®.
How was Invigorate® developed?
bp gasoline with Invigorate® was developed with rigorous and extensive testing by fuel engineers, covering over 60 different industry approved test methods and thousands of hours in vehicles and engines. We tested our best ever fuel in conventional (port fuel injector) and emerging (direct injection) engine technology; in fleets of cars and trucks with engines big and small; and in engine test stands incorporating ASTM, industry standard and new, cutting edge test procedures.
Where can I find Invigorate®?
bp gasoline with Invigorate® can only be found at bp stations. Use our station finder to locate the bp nearest you.
What is TOP TIER™, and does bp’s gasoline with Invigorate® meet TOP TIER™ detergent gasoline standards?

Eight of the world's top automakers, BMW, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Audi recognized that the current EPA minimum detergent requirements do not go far enough to ensure optimal engine performance, so they created TOP TIER™ which raised the bar to an additive level that is better suited for vehicle performance.

bp is a registered TOP TIER™ retailer and Amoco Ultimate with Invigorate® goes one step further by surpassing Top Tier treat rate levels.

What is Flex Fuel / E85 fuel? Should I use it?

Flex Fuel (also known as E85) is a gasoline-ethanol blend containing anywhere from 51 to 83% ethanol, and can only be used in Flexible Fuel Vehicles (FFVs). At the dispenser flex fuel is clearly labelled “E85” and includes signage that cautions drivers to use this fuel only if they have a FFV vehicle. Check your owner’s manual to confirm whether you have a FFV vehicle that can run on Flex Fuel.

Learn more about Flex Fuel Vehicles on the EPA website.

What are biodiesel blends?

Biodiesel blends are standard diesel fuels blended with a biomass component derived from plant oil and animal fats. Just as the government requires ethanol to be blended into gasoline, they also require or promote the blending of renewable biomass components into diesel fuels.

When biomass components are blended at levels between 5 and 20%, the FTC requires that all dispensers be clearly labelled with the following:

Biodiesel blend

Many diesel vehicles can run properly on biodiesel blends. However, there are a number of manufacturers whose vehicles do not recommend blends greater than 5%. Please consult your owner’s manual to learn if biodiesel blends greater than 5% are compatible with your vehicle.

When you register for BPme Rewards, you will immediately begin to get 5 cents off per gallon on every fuel purchase through the following month. After that, you have the opportunity to keep your 5 cent per gallon reward on all fuel purchases by spending $100 on fuel in a calendar month.

Occasionally, BPme Rewards members will receive Bonus Rewards on top of the 5 cent BPme Reward amount. When you have an Active Bonus Reward on your account, it will be applied to your next fuel purchase.

BP credit card with BPme

I don't want to apply for a credit card, can I still participate?
Yes! You can participate in BPme Rewards without a BP Credit Card. When you download BPme, you have the ability to use any major credit or debit card or a Paypal account to set up mobile payment. Alternatively, if you prefer to pay with cash or other form of payment, you can use the phone number associated with your BPme Rewards account at the pump or inside the store to participate in BPme Rewards.
Can I use my BP Credit Card in the BPme App?
Yes! You can add your BP Visa or BP Credit Card into the BPme mobile wallet and use the card for fuel payment through BPme. When you do this, you will not only be receiving your BP Credit Card reward on every fuel purchase, but you also will be qualifying for the BPme Reward for an additional 5 cents off per gallon.
How many BP credit cards can I add to my BPme App?
You can only have one (1) BP Credit Card (either BP Visa or BP Card) added as a payment method in your BPme App.
What is my reward when I use BP Credit Card with BPme Rewards?

BP Visa:

If you add a BP Visa credit card to your BPme wallet, you will save 10 cents off per gallon on every fuel purchase when using the BP Visa for payment. If you meet the $100 fuel spend threshold in a month by using BPme Rewards, your BP Visa Credit Card purchases will then give you a 15 cent per gallon discount on all fuel purchases, as you have now qualified for the extra 5 cents per gallon from BPme Rewards. Stacking of the offers will not apply if you use your altnerate ID (phone number) at the pump or inside the store before paying with your BP Visa card, in this instance only your BPme Reward will apply, the credit card reward will not apply.

BP Credit Card:

If you add a BP credit card in your BPme wallet, you will save 5 cents off per gallon on every fuel purchase when using the BP credit card for payment. If you meet the $100 fuel spend threshold in a month by using BPme Rewards, your BP Visa Credit Card purchases will then give you a 10 cent per gallon discount on all fuel purchases, as you have now qualified for the extra 5 cents per gallon from BPme Rewards. Stacking of the offers will not apply if you use your altnerate ID (phone number) at the pump or inside the store before paying with your BP credit card, in this instance only your BPme Reward will apply, the credit card reward will not apply.

Linked cards

What does it mean to Link a card to BPme Rewards?
When you add a payment card to your BPme mobile wallet, you will get the option to Link that card to your BPme Rewards account. When you link that payment card, you are then able to use that card for fuel purchases outside of the app, either at the fuel pump or inside the c-store and your fuel purchases will still count towards BPme Rewards. Any active rewards will be used for a fuel discount, and the fuel amount purchased will count towards your $100 fuel spend threshold.
How many cards can I link to my BPme Rewards account?
There is no limit to the number of payment cards that can be added to your BPme Mobile Wallet. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of those payment cards that can be linked to the BPme Rewards account, as long as it is not already linked to another BPme Rewards account.
Can I remove a linked card from my BPme Rewards account?
Yes. In the BPme App, you can select your payment card, and go to the Edit Page. From the Edit Page, you are able to change the link toggle from ON to OFF.
Can I link a BP Credit Card to my BPme Rewards account?
Yes! When you add a BP Credit Card to your BPme mobile wallet, you have the option to link that card for rewards outside of the app. Anytime that BP credit card is used to purchase fuel at the pump or inside the c-store, the fuel purchase will qualify for both the BP Credit Card Reward and the BPme Reward. To qualify for both rewards, you do not need to use your phone number (ALT ID) at the pump, you only need to swipe your linked card. Using the phone number feature will only award BPme Rewards and will not give your credit card rewards.
Why am I not getting my rewards when I swipe my linked payment card?

Insert your payment card first at the pump before you engage with the keypad to ensure your transactions are counting and you are receiving your BPme Reward discount. Some pumps may prompt you first to select debit or credit, skip this step and swipe your card first to ensure your BPme Reward discount applies.

Apple Pay

How do I set up Apple Pay with BPme?
Within the app, go to the Payment Methods screen.  Then select Set Up Apple Pay.  From there you will be launched into the Apple Pay set up process.  After setting up Apple Pay, you will see Apple Pay as a payment option. From there you can select Apple Pay as a default payment method (if desired).
How do I use Apple Pay with BPme to pay for fuel?
Select your station first and then select the pump number.  Then choose Apple Pay as your payment method.  From there confirm your details and hit the Pay with Apple Pay button. You'll use Touch ID® or Face ID® to authorize payment.  Once authorized, the pump will unlock and you can begin fueling.
What credit cards are supported by Apple Pay within the BPme App?
At this time, the BPme App supports Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover when using Apple Pay as your payment method.
Can I use my BP credit card with Apple Pay?
You are able to use your BP Visa with Apple Pay, however, if you use an Apple Pay wallet that is provisioned with BP Visa credit card, you will not receive a cent per gallon reward at the pump. Instead, you will receive 1% Cash Back Rewards on those fuel purchases. If you wish to receive a cent per gallon reward at the pump when using a BP Visa, you must provision your BP VISA directly to your BPme account and use that to pay instead of Apple Pay.  Your BP PLCC card is not supported by Apple Pay.
Can I use Apple Pay directly at the pump or in the store by tapping my phone?
You can pay with Apple Pay inside a BP station by tapping your phone on the PIN pad.  At some BP stations, you may be able to pay by tapping Apple Pay at the pump, if the site has the technology enabled. If you choose to use Apple Pay by tapping your phone at the pump, you will not receive a loyalty reward. In order to receive your loyalty reward for a fuel purchase, you will need to enter your ALT ID at the pump. The BPme app allows Apple Pay to be selected without tapping.

General BPme Rewards Questions

Who do I contact for help?
If you are having any issues with either the BPme mobile app or with the BPme Rewards program, please contact our helpdesk at bpconsumer@bp.com or at 1-800-333-3991 for assistance.

I don't want to add my own credit card to the app, can I still participate?
At this time, you must have a credit card added to the BPme app to use mobile payment or linked card as a way to participate in BPme Rewards. The app accepts any major credit or debit card, as well as Paypal, as payment methods. If you would like to receive fuel discounts without using the app, you can register online and use your mobile phone number (Alternate ID) at the pump or inside the store to participate in BPme Rewards.
How can I find out my current active reward?
When you log into your BPme Rewards account, you will see your current active reward on both the home screen, and on My Rewards tab in the Rewards section. The active reward amount reflects the discount that will apply on your next fuel purchase.
Can I combine my BPme Rewards with the local rewards program that is offered at my favorite station?
Yes, you can combine reward programs offered by your local station with BPme Rewards, however this does not apply to any of our grocer partnerships including Mariano’s, Harris Teeter, and Fresh Perks. If you have a payment card in your BPme wallet that you have linked to your BPme Rewards account, you can use that card as payment when you are using a local loyalty program provided by your gas station. If you first use the loyalty card or phone number entry for the local program, then use your linked BPme Rewards payment card, you will qualify for both programs.
How do I receive promotional offers from bp?

Phone Number (Alternate ID, ALT ID) Questions

How do I register online without using the BPme app?
You can now register for BPme Rewards online at www.bp.com/bpme-rewards-registration instead of using the BPme app. The registration process is best supported by Chrome or Edge. Internet Explorer 11 is not supported unless your compatibility view has been turned off, which can be done in your internet browser settings.
What is a BPme Rewards Alternative ID and how does it work?
Alternate ID (ALT ID) is another way for BPme Rewards members to participate in BPme Rewards to get loyalty rewards while paying for fuel.  An ALT ID is the mobile phone number linked to your BPme Rewards account. Simply input this number before swiping your payment method at the pump or inside the store when paying for fuel.
What can I use as my payment method when I use my mobile phone number or Alt ID?
Your mobile phone number or Alternate ID can be used with any method of payment that is accepted at your bp or Amoco station. Credit cards, debit cards, cash, and any specialty credit products, such as fleet, can be accepted.
How do I get an Alternate ID (ALT ID)?
When you register for BPme Rewards you will be required to provide a mobile phone number during the registration process. This mobile phone number will be your alternate ID (ALT ID).
Why does bp require unique mobile numbers?
bp requires members to provide a unique mobile number to register for BPme Rewards. Your mobile number is also the Alternate ID that you can use to earn and redeem BPme Rewards.
What rewards will I get if I use my mobile phone number (Alternate ID) instead of the BPme App?
Members have the choice between using their mobile phone number (Alternate ID), mobile payment through the BPme App, or using a linked card that from their BPme mobile wallet. All ways of participating will give members the same BPme Rewards benefits, automatically redeeming any available rewards, and will count the fuel spend toward the monthly $100 fuel spend threshold.
Can I use my Alternate ID and bp payment card to get both rewards?
No, when using your mobile phone number (Alternate ID) before swiping your payment method at the pump or inside the store, ONLY the BPme Rewards benefits will apply. You will automatically redeem any BPme Rewards available rewards, and your fuel spend will count toward your monthly $100 threshold, however you will NOT receive the rewards from the BP Visa or BP Credit Cards. To receive the rewards from BOTH programs, you can download the BPme App, add your BP Visa or BP Credit Card to your mobile wallet, and use either mobile payment, or link your credit card to your BPme Rewards account through the app to be able to stack the rewards from both programs in a single purchase.
Can I stack my BPme Rewards and Grocer Rewards?
No, fuel points from Mariano’s Fresh Perks, or Harris Teeter cannot be combined with BPme Rewards. Fuel points from these programs can be redeemed at Amoco or BP stations using the alternate ID or phone number associated with that program. In the case where you are using the same phone number on both your grocer and your BPme Rewards account, using  your mobile phone number  at a bp or Amoco station will default to the grocer rewards offer, and you will not redeem any BPme Rewards, and your fuel purchased will not count toward your monthly $100 fuel spend threshold. If you do not want to redeem your grocer fuel points, and want to use BPme Rewards instead, please use either the BPme App mobile payment, or a linked card from the BPme mobile app instead of using your mobile phone number (Alternate ID).
How can I use my mobile phone number (Alternate ID) at the pump?
To use your mobile phone number, follow these steps at the pump: 1) press “cancel” 2) enter your mobile number, 3) press “enter” 4) following prompts on screen to swipe your payment method.
How can I use my mobile phone number (Alternate ID) in store?
To use your mobile phone number (ALT ID), follow the pin pad instructions. When prompted for mobile phone number or ALT ID enter your mobile number then swipe your payment method.
What do I do if I want to view or update my mobile phone number or ALT ID number?
