Fuels

Invigorate® is bp’s exclusive proprietary detergent additive found in all three grades of bp gasoline with Invigorate®—bp Regular, bp Silver (midgrade), and Amoco Ultimate® (premium).

Fuel additives are good! In fact, the US government requires a minimum amount of deposit-control additive to be present in all US fuels – but all grades of bp gasoline with Invigorate® go beyond these minimum standards in an effort to provide additional benefits to drivers who use our fuel.

A new and improved version of bp gasoline with Invigorate® was introduced in April 2016, and we’re proud to say this version is our best fuel ever—with versatility for both conventional port fuel injector engine technology, and emerging direct injection engine technology. It has 10 times better protection against intake valve deposits than ordinary, minimum-detergency fuels. Keeping intake valves clean is important because dirty deposits from ordinary fuels that form in engines can lead to a variety of problems—hesitation, rough starts, loss in fuel economy, and increased emissions to name a few. bp gasoline with Invigorate® not only helps prevent deposits from forming in the first place but can even help clean deposits left by minimum detergency fuels —giving drivers more miles with every tank¹.
Dirty and clean valves

Additionally, bp gasoline with Invigorate® protects against sludge which can build up over time in your engine’s motor oil system, preventing oil flow to critical engine parts and can result in catastrophic engine failure².

1 Ordinary Fuel refers to minimum detergency gasoline. Dirt refers to deposits on critical engine parts. Requires continuous use over 5000 miles. Restores an average of 3 - 5 miles per tank that had been lost due to deposits. Based on fleet testing representative of the U.S. car population. Fuel economy can be affected by many factors. Benefits may be more significant in older model vehicles

2 With continuous use. Based on driving style. Follow vehicle manufacturers’ recommendations for oil changes.

bp gasolines with Invigorate® are specially designed to remove existing engine dirt in all on-road engine technologies and protect against its build up4. You can enjoy using bp gasolines with Invigorate® no matter what you drive - old or new, large or small. However, if in doubt you should always check your owner’s manual.

4 Dirt refers to deposits on critical engine parts

Only bp gasolines contain Invigorate®; it’s the name we give to our innovative formula which was developed and rigorously tested by bp scientists over 5 years to deliver these fuels’ special ability to remove engine dirt4. bp gasolines with Invigorate® are only available at bp and Amoco retail stations.

Yes. bp gasolines with Invigorate® are specially designed to offer a range of benefits in all on-road gasoline engine technologies. You can enjoy using bp gasolines with Invigorate® no matter what you drive - old or new, truck, car or motorcycle. However, if in doubt you should always check your owner’s manual.

Dirt can form and build up in engines which may make them feel less responsive and use more fuel4. That’s why we designed bp gasolines with Invigorate® to tackle the hidden problem of dirt. These are our best ever range of dirt-busting fuels; over time they remove the dirt in your engine that can be left behind by minimum detergent fuels and help stop it building up again. With continuous use bp gasolines with Invigorate® help your engine perform as the manufacturer intended.5 They can give you more miles per tank1, deliver a smoother drive6, and help reduce the risk of unplanned and costly visits to the mechanic.7

Our premium fuel, Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®, cleans faster than bp Regular and bp Silver. Amoco Ultimate® can also deliver a significant improvement in fuel economy - up to 25 miles more per tank for full sized half ton pickup trucks in highway driving.3

For the best results and optimal fuel economy benefits we recommend the continuous use of Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®.

By federal and state regulation, nearly all gasoline sold by retailers in the US has up to 10% ethanol blended into it to comply with the US Renewable Fuel Standards as part of the Energy Independence and Security Act. A small amount of bp stations may sell ethanol-free gasoline (which is labeled accordingly), but this is typically used in off-road vehicles like ATVs or boats.
Yes. bp has a long history of conducting in-house performance testing in support of our fuels and lubricants. We spent 5 years developing and rigorously testing bp gasolines with Invigorate®. In this time, we tested our fuels for thousands of hours in engines and vehicles.
91 Octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate® gives similar results when compared to regular gasolines in vehicles that can go further with our 93 Octane Amoco Ultimate® with Invigorate®.
bp gasoline with Invigorate® was developed with rigorous and extensive testing by fuel engineers, covering over 60 different industry approved test methods and thousands of hours in vehicles and engines. We tested our best ever fuel in conventional (port fuel injector) and emerging (direct injection) engine technology; in fleets of cars and trucks with engines big and small; and in engine test stands incorporating ASTM, industry standard and new, cutting edge test procedures.
bp gasoline with Invigorate® can only be found at bp stations. Use our station finder to locate the bp nearest you.

All grades of bp/Amoco gasoline with Invigorate exceed TOP TIER™ detergent requirements and provide enhanced benefits to our consumers, such as cleaning your engine1, that TOP TIER™ fuels do not.”

Flex Fuel (also known as E85) is a gasoline-ethanol blend containing anywhere from 51 to 83% ethanol, and can only be used in Flexible Fuel Vehicles (FFVs). At the dispenser flex fuel is clearly labeled “E85” and includes signage that cautions drivers to use this fuel only if they have a FFV vehicle. Check your owner’s manual to confirm whether you have a FFV vehicle that can run on Flex Fuel.

Learn more about Flex Fuel Vehicles on the EPA website.

Biodiesel blends are standard diesel fuels blended with a biomass component derived from plant oil and animal fats. Just as the government requires ethanol to be blended into gasoline, they also require or promote the blending of renewable biomass components into diesel fuels.

When biomass components are blended at levels between 5 and 20%, the FTC requires that all dispensers be clearly labeled with the following:

Biodiesel blend

Many diesel vehicles can run properly on biodiesel blends. However, there are a number of manufacturers whose vehicles do not recommend blends greater than 5%. Please consult your owner’s manual to learn if biodiesel blends greater than 5% are compatible with your vehicle.

If you wish to receive a cent per gallon reward at the pump when using a BP Visa, you must provision your BP VISA directly to your BPme account and use that to pay instead of Apple Pay.  Your BP PLCC card is not supported by Apple Pay.
You can pay with Apple Pay inside a BP station by tapping your phone on the PIN pad.  At some BP stations, you may be able to pay by tapping Apple Pay at the pump, if the site has the technology enabled. If you choose to use Apple Pay by tapping your phone at the pump, you will not receive a loyalty reward. In order to receive your loyalty reward for a fuel purchase, you will need to enter your phone number (Loyalty ID) at the pump. The BPme app allows Apple Pay to be selected without tapping.

General BPme Rewards Questions

If you are having any issues with either the BPme mobile app or with the BPme Rewards program, you can chat with us 24/7 in-app by tapping the chat icon on the home screen or you can contact our helpdesk at bpconsumer@bp.com or at 1-800-333-3991 for assistance.

At this time, you must have a credit card added to the BPme app to use mobile payment or linked card as a way to participate in BPme Rewards. The app accepts any major credit or debit card, as well as Paypal, as payment methods. If you would like to receive fuel discounts without using the app, you can register online and use your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID) at the pump or inside the store to participate in BPme Rewards.
When you log into your BPme Rewards account, you will see your current active reward on both the home screen, and on My Rewards tab in the Rewards section. The active reward amount reflects the discount that will apply on your next fuel purchase.
Yes, you can combine reward programs offered by your local station with BPme Rewards, however this does not apply to any of our grocer partnerships including Mariano’s, Harris Teeter, and Fresh Perks. If you have a payment card in your BPme wallet that you have linked to your BPme Rewards account, you can use that card as payment when you are using a local loyalty program provided by your gas station. If you first use the loyalty card or phone number entry for the local program, then use your linked BPme Rewards payment card, you will qualify for both programs.
To receive promotions, offers, and other information from BP you will need to opt-in to at least one communications channel. When you register for BPme Rewards, you will have the option to select email or SMS as a communications channel. Additionally, any time after registration, you can edit your Account Settings to opt in for Email and SMS communications.
If you would like to receive marketing communication and promotional offers related to BPme Rewards, you will need to be opted in to either Email or SMS or both.

bp has added the capability for voice shortcuts in the BPme app. These are commands that you can speak into your phone to save time and get access to your rewards information. Voice shortcuts cut out some of the steps of navigation in the app, and then take you to the screen(s) to take the action you want.
BPme will allow you to initiate payments for fuel and find the closest bp or Amoco station hands-free. You'll also be able to check your current discount and your monthly rewards progress.

By cutting out some of the steps of navigating to the app, voice shortcuts will save you valuable time. For example, to initiate payment at a station:

  • On iPhone say: “Hey Siri, pay for gas”

Make sure you have the latest version of the BPme app downloaded to use voice commands, then follow these steps:

  • Open the app, go to More > App Tools > BPme Voice shortcuts
  • Toggle on shortcuts and set up custom phrases

Another way to enable shortcuts is to look for prompts throughout the app to “Add to Siri”. If you would like to enable a specific shortcut just tap the ‘Add to Siri’ button.

On an iPhone, open the BPme app and follow these steps:

  • More > App Tools > select BPme voice shortcuts
  • Tap Edit > remove shortcut to disable

Yes. When purchasing fuel, you will have the option to purchase a car wash at stations that have a car wash. If you wish to only purchase a car wash without purchasing fuel, you will need to go inside to purchase the wash or through the car wash kiosk if available.
At this time, the BPme app does not accept fleet cards as a form of payment. However, you can use your phone number (Loyalty ID) that is associated with your BPme Rewards account at the pump or inside the store before paying with a fleet card. When your phone number is used before payment, you will automatically receive any BPme Rewards discounts.
Unfortunately no, you are only able to pay for fuel and car washes using the app. If you wish to purchase any other products, you will need to pay for these in-store.
Before authorizing the pump, BPme will check with your bank to verify the payment information. The verification check may appear on your bank account as a pending purchase. Don't worry, you will only be charged for the total amount of fuel purchased. The pending transaction may take up to 7 days to clear, depending on your bank.
BPme currently accepts PayPal and all major credit and debit cards including BP credit cards, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and Discover. BPme currently does NOT accept fleet cards, gift cards, and pre-paid debit cards. bp continues to review support for additional payment options and will continue to work towards expanding payment options through BPme.
Navigate to the payment methods section of the app via the More tab to remove a payment card in your BPme wallet.  Tap the green information “I” icon and select delete card or swipe left on the card and delete.

During the pay for fuel experience, the BPme app requests that you confirm the pump prior to sending the selected payment information and enabling the pump in an effort to prevent app users from incorrectly selecting the pump number. bp is not responsible for any financial loss in the event that the wrong pump was selected.

Phone Number (Loyalty ID) Questions

You can now register for BPme Rewards online at www.bp.com/bpme-rewards-registration instead of using the BPme app. The registration process is best supported by Chrome or Edge. Internet Explorer 11 is not supported unless your compatibility view has been turned off, which can be done in your internet browser settings.
Loyalty ID is another way for BPme Rewards members to participate in BPme Rewards to get loyalty rewards while paying for fuel. Your Loyalty ID is the mobile phone number linked to your BPme Rewards account. Simply input this number before swiping your payment method at the pump or inside the store when paying for fuel.
Your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID) can be used with any method of payment that is accepted at your bp or Amoco station. Credit cards, debit cards, cash, and any specialty credit products, such as fleet, can be accepted.
When you register for BPme Rewards you will be required to provide a mobile phone number during the registration process. This mobile phone number will be your Loyalty ID.
bp requires members to provide a unique mobile number to register for BPme Rewards. Your mobile number is also the Loyalty ID that you can use to earn and redeem BPme Rewards.
Members have the choice between using their mobile phone number (Loyalty ID), mobile payment through the BPme App, or using a linked card from their BPme mobile wallet. All ways of participating will give members the same BPme Rewards benefits, automatically redeeming any available rewards.

Alternate IDs such as grocer (Mariano’s, Harris Teeter, Pick N’ Save) fuel point programs cannot be combined with BPme Rewards Visa. Fuel points from these programs can be redeemed at Amoco or BP stations using your phone number (Loyalty ID) associated with that program. In the case where you are using the same phone number on both your grocer and your BPme Rewards account, using your mobile phone number at a bp or Amoco station will default to the grocer rewards offer, and you will not redeem any BPme Rewards. If you do not want to redeem your grocer fuel points, and want to use BPme Rewards instead, please use either the BPme App mobile payment, or a linked card from the BPme mobile app instead of using your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID).

To ensure you receive the 15¢ off per gallon from your BPme Rewards Visa, either swipe your card at the pump or pay from the BPme app via linked card. When you add your BPme Rewards Visa to your BPme mobile wallet, you have the option to link your credit card. The 5¢ off per gallon BPme reward is already included in the 15¢ off per gallon from your BPme Rewards Visa.

To use your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID), follow these steps at the pump: 1) press “cancel” 2) enter your mobile number, 3) press “enter” 4) following prompts on screen to swipe your payment method.
To use your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID), follow the pin pad instructions. When prompted enter your mobile number (Loyalty ID) then swipe your payment method.

You can view your mobile phone number (Loyalty ID) by going to the BPme App or BPme Rewards website and view your mobile phone number in the account setting or profile section. To change your phone number, open the BPme app then go to More, Settings, Update Phone Number and follow these steps:

  • Add your new phone number
  • Add verification code that was sent from bp via text to your new mobile number
  • Tap verify and you’re done

Charging

Download the bp pulse app from the Apple or Google Play stores, register your account, and add a payment method. Then, simply plug the connector into your vehicle’s charge socket and activate the charge within the app. Alternatively, the charger can be activated using the payment terminal located on the charger. If you need some support, call bp pulse support at 833-277-8573, or email us at DriverSupportUS@bp.com
No, our chargers are open to the public. If you do not have the mobile app to charge your vehicle, you can pay via the payment terminals at our chargers.
Yes. You can use the bp pulse app with established roaming partners; please check the bp pulse app to see available charging points. When you have safely arrived at the charging point you wish to use, connect your vehicle then use the bp pulse app to start your charge.
Yes. You can use any third-party apps that bp pulse has established roaming agreements with, for example ChargePoint, EV Connect, and Shell Recharge.
Our charging points are equipped with CCS1 plugs, which are designed to be compatible with most modern electric vehicles.
We are launching charging points that can deliver up to 150kW of power. Charging power by location can be found in the bp pulse app.

Typically, an EV with a low battery initially charges slowly when plugged into a charging point. As the vehicle’s battery gains charge, the rate of charging will increase to either the maximum power output of your chosen charger (e.g. 150kW)—or the maximum charge rate of your specific EV, depending on which is smaller.

The maximum charge rate for your specific EV will depend on its make and model. As the battery becomes fuller, the charging rate slows down. This tends to happen when the battery is at around 80% capacity to protect the battery and ensure its longevity, though this again depends on the make and manufacturer.

Each of our chargers have two CCS1 connectors and can accommodate simultaneous charging. When two customers access the same charger, the charger’s output power is shared between the two vehicles. Because of this we recommend making sure there are no unoccupied chargers on site before doubling up to maximize everyone’s charging power.
If your vehicle is CCS1 compatible we got you covered.  If you drive another vehicle such as a Tesla, you will need to bring your own adapter to plug in.

Charging time will depend on, including but not limited to, your vehicle’s battery size, the state of charge (%), temperature of your battery, your vehicle’s maximum charging power, and the power of the charging station. Also, vehicles are designed to protect the battery by slowing the charge rate significantly after 80% charge has been reached.

Additionally, if another customer is accessing the same charger, the available power will be shared between the two vehicles. If you are still experiencing a slower charge than expected customer support is available 24/7 and can be contacted at 833-277-8573 or through email at DriverSupportUS@bp.com

Initially our chargers will be powered by electricity from the grid, but at the same time we’ll be buying large scale generation certificates that provide investment into renewable electricity generation, for every kW of electricity used by our chargers.
Yes, it is safe for consumers to pump gas while other consumers are charging their EV.
Our chargers are available 24 hours/7 days a week.
No, bp pulse chargers are for fully electric vehicles only.
