bp Australia to offer healthier meals as part of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds partnership

Release date:
1 September 2022
bp Australia will offer healthier cooked meals at participating bp truck stop sites across Australia to encourage healthier food choices for workers in the broader road transport, warehousing and logistics industries.
  • Earlier this year, bp Australia announced a partnership to support the Foundations mission to address the industries mental health and physical wellbeing challenges.
  • bp Australia is offering healthier meal options at participating sites in its truck stop network to encourage healthier food choices for broader road transport, warehousing and logistics industries.
  • bp refreshed their global strategy and aims in 2020, one of the twenty aims is to enhance the wellbeing of employees, contractors and local communities.

This project is an initiative of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS) and bp developed in partnership with Nutrition Australia.

Research from Monash University in 2021 showed that 70% of truck drivers in Australia do not meet health and balanced diet guidelines1

In response to the findings, HHTS has worked closely with bp and Nutrition Australia to develop a custom menu comprised of healthy meal choices. From today, users of the Healthy Heads App will receive an instant $5 discount when purchasing from this menu at 29 participating bp sites for a limited time.

bp’s participating sites offer freshly cooked meals, 24-hours a day – catering to the needs of those working in the logistics industries no matter their journey. The Nutrition Australia approved bp menu will be permanently available at these sites.

bp Australia’s Tanya Ghosn, VP fleet, dealer, truckstops and electrification ANZ, said: “bp’s sustainability frame underpins our strategy with twenty aims in areas where we believe we can make the biggest difference. One of those aims is to enhance the wellbeing of employees, customers, contractors and local communities.

“I’m proud of our partnership with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds and by implementing innovative offers like this, we believe that we support improvements in the areas of psychological safety and physical wellbeing across the road transport, warehousing and logistics industries in Australia.”

Naomi Frauenfelder, HHTS CEO added: “Limited access to healthy food options is an ongoing challenge for many people working across the industry, particularly those who spend extended periods of time away from home or work in remote areas.

“This is why we have taken steps toward increasing healthier food options, while also making these options more accessible from a cost perspective, through our Foundation Corporate Partner bp providing a discount to anyone who uses the Healthy Heads App.”

Mark Tramacchi, bp Australia truck stop director, said: “We’re proud to deliver healthier meal choices, approved by Nutrition Australia, at our participating sites as a permanent option in our 24-hour freshly cooked range. We look forward to continuing to welcome Healthy Heads’ RoadShow vehicles to our sites and delivering HHTS awareness programmes.”

Discounts for Healthy Heads App users are available on selected healthier meal choices at participating bp service centres for a limited time. Check the Healthy Heads App for participating bp site locations.

The Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds App is free to join, featuring information and tools to help build better understanding of mental health and physical wellbeing, provide users with practical knowledge and share tips for healthier practices.
