People working at BP in Hungary often get together to raise money for good causes
Most of the time these campaigns are small-scale meaning the money collected is considered as a small donation but in the last years certain campaigns earned bigger successes. In 2015 BP Running Ambassadors collected more than 1,6 million HUF for the Foundation Suhanj for the installation of the first disabled-friendly sport complex in Hungary.
Christmas Shoebox Drive (Cipősdoboz akció) is an annual charitable movement to collect and give Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children in Hungary. The number one aim is to enable these children to have something which will bring a smile to their faces over the holiday period. BP in Hungary has joined to this initiative since 2011 and the number of boxes collected is growing every year. In 2017 more than 500 boxes got donated by BP employees. In order to give a bigger boost to the campaign after each box delivered BP Hungary donated 3000 HUF to good causes, all of them related to support the children in need.
In 2017 BP in Hungary opened its second office and for the official opening a team of London, Budapest and Szeged employees along with GBS Vice President Brian Puffer ride their bike approximately 200 km from Budapest to Szeged. While pedaling to Szeged, the team raised money for Pedaling for Newborns, a foundation supporting perinatal care. The members of the cycling team organized the donation via a crowdfunding website and reached out not only to their other BP colleagues worldwide but to their families and friends too. 2 million Hungarian Forint got collected out of which 1,5 million will be doubled by the BP Foundation.
