Pressure instruments - types and usage

Pressure gauge

Pressure can be measured for a liquid or a gas for indication of pressure in a pipe, closed tank, or atmospheric.

Indication of a differential pressure could be used to indicate a pressure drop across a filter, to detect flow in a pipe, or level in a closed tank. Pressure switches may be used when indication is not needed. Also, pressure is measured to determine force.

Students have the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency in the use of multiple pressure related instruments.

Lessons include:

Practical application of principles of pressure, including:

  • Pascal's Law
  • Boyle's Law
  • Charles' Law

Sample

  • Analog pressure gauges
  • Digital pressure gauges
  • Pressure calibrators
  • Pressure transmitters
  • Deadweight testers
