Sustainability Review 2013

Our Sustainability Review analyses the impact our business has on the environment, communities and the economic and social context of the locations where we operate. In the report you can read about our performance and about our projects and actions in different parts of the world.

BP believes that the best way to achieve sustainable success in our business is to act on behalf of the long-term interests of our shareholders, partners and society as a whole. Our objective is to supply energy to the world in a safe and reliable way. We work to be an international operator, a responsible corporate citizen and a good employer.
The Sustainability Review highlights, among other aspects, that in 2013:
  • BP has invested 8.3 billion dollars in alternative energy since 2005.
  • 18% of the group’s leadership roles are held by women.
  • Three large oil spill response simulations were carried out with regulators in Brazil, Azerbaijan and Libya.
  • Over 78 million dollars were invested in projects with communities.
The report also cites the educational exhibition organised by BP in the communities of seven municipalities on the coast of Bahia. The objective was to spread knowledge about the oil industry among local pupils, fishermen and the wider community. Find out more.
