Another national staff assigned to a high-calibre position

We are pleased to announce that Afgan Huseynov is appointed to the role of vice president reservoir development, Russia effective 15 June 2019. Currently, Afgan is Shah Deniz reservoir management team leader.

In this role, Afgan will be accountable for all reservoir development activity in BP Russia covering our 19.75% shareholding in Rosneft and our non-operated joint ventures activity. He will have dual reporting lines to both the head of reservoir development and the senior vice president Upstream for BP Russia. Afgan will be a member of the reservoir development extended leadership team and the BP Russia leadership team.

Afgan has over 15 years of experience in subsurface and has worked in a variety of leadership and technical roles in the UK, Azerbaijan and Iraq. In his most recent role, Afgan was reservoir management team leader for Shah Deniz full field development and prior to that, he was new well delivery manager for BP’s Middle East business, focusing primarily on the Rumaila field in Iraq.  

Afgan holds an MSc in Geological Engineering from Middle East Technical University ‐ Ankara and a BSc in Engineering Geology from Azerbaijan State Oil Academy - Baku. He also completed BP sponsored Entrepreneurship Program with Stanford University Graduate School of Business – London.
