In the Center of the Stream - Central Azeri celebrates 10-year anniversary

The current daily production rate is 165,000 barrels per day that is produced from 28 wells. There are 356 core crew members with 220 being the maximum persons on board (POB) at any one time.

On this special day Elkhan visited the platform together with AGT Vice President for Offshore Operations Tony Hunt, to commemorate this day together with the crew. “10 years of world class operations is a fantastic achievement. Back then, everyone would have had very high expectations of how Central Azeri would perform - BP, the AIOC partners and the country of Azerbaijan. But I suspect nobody back then would have dreamt of how much the team would actually deliver. I wish the team every success for the next ten years of Central Azeri operations,” says Tony.

‘In the center of the stream’ is a short video reel that outlines the major successes and milestones of the platform throughout the years. Please watch the video through the link below and celebrate this occasion together with Central Azeri Team.
13 February 2015 marks the 10-year amazing journey of the Central Azeri (CA) Platform. Central Azeri is one of the three platforms of the Azeri field and started off the Phase 1 of the Azeri -Chirag-Guneshli project. The Phase 1 was sanctioned in August 2001 at the ceremony that was attended by President of Azerbaijan republic Heydar Aliyev and BP Azerbaijan Business Unit President David Woodward. The construction ended in 2004 and the production at the Central Azeri began on 13 February 2005 with President Ilham Aliyev personally visiting the platform for a traditional first muzzle. In more recent history, Central Azeri team safely and successfully implemented a major turnaround project in October 2014.

Central Azeri has been a professional school for many of our employees, including now Area Operations Manager for the Azeri field Elkhan Mamedov. Elkhan was present at the platform on the historical day of February 13 in 2005 when he cracked open the choke of the first well into production. Elkhan is still with Central Azeri after 10 years. “This platform is very close to my heart and I would like to congratulate every single person who made their contribution into CA’s 10 years journey. For me personally these 10 years mean the journey from Instrument technician on CA to Azeri Area AOM,” says Elkhan.
