BP wins three awards in the Ask Afrika Icon Brand Survey

BP Southern Africa has scored a hat trick of awards in the Ask Afrika Icon Brand consumer survey 2018/2019, including the Fuel and Convenience categories, as customers voted for their favourite brands.

The Ask Afrika Brand Survey is a benchmark tool used to examine brand loyalty and preferences amongst local consumers across all spectrums.

BPSA emerged as the brand of choice in the following three categories:

2018/2019 Platinum Brand Status (potential Icon status)

  • BP Ultimate with Active Technology

2018/2019 Category winners brand (brands with highest overall scores per category)

  • BP Ultimate with Active Technology is the winner of the Fuel (Petrol or Diesel) Category
  • BP (Express) is the winner of the Garage Convenience Shops the Category
The category leaders often dominate their space and are often iconic amongst those consumers that have access to these products and services.

The Icon Brands Survey, conducted in association with Target Group Index (TGI), is the largest of its kind in South Africa with 19 sectors, hundreds of product categories and thousands of brands included in the measurement. A total of 30 000 consumers were surveyed representing about 25 million adult South African consumers.

“We are proud to receive these accolades. As a business, these multiple awards affirm that the BP brand is still relevant in today’s competitive landscape and evolving consumer needs and demands. Furthermore, the fuel category recognition reinforces our commitment to innovation and technical excellence,” says BP South Africa Head of Marketing, Tebogo Mekoa.

This year, a total of 160 categories were included in the survey and the Ask Afrika Icon Brands category winners (brands with highest overall scores per category) were identified and BP came out with highest overall scores per category won. This proved BP to be a leader within the competing categories and has dominated market categories. In addition, these results determine how South African consumers are changing, how they think and what is important to them.

A huge thank you to all our customers for your vote of confidence and continued support.

Here is to many more years of fuelling Mzansi!
