New Airfield Automation technology enhances airport fuelling operations

This year’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, provided the perfect platform for us to launch our new Airfield Automation technology.

It’s designed to benefit airports, pilots and operators and is the first commercially deployed system in the world to provide an engineering barrier which actively helps prevent misfuelling.

How does it work? The cloud-based platform consolidates the data related to airport fuelling operations and works via an app on a handheld device in the fuelling vehicles.

Named ‘safe2go’, the app captures fuel volume readings and provides fuel grade checks. It then electronically captures your details which are confirmed with an electronic signature from the pilot or airline.

With misfuelling being one of the biggest risks faced in our industry, we know that efficiency and safety are integral to aircraft operations. Thanks to our automated, end-to-end, paperless technology you can expect faster, more comprehensive and accurate fuelling and delivery data. We can also offer you increasingly integrated information, such as delivery records and precise delivery timings.

Following a two-year trial of the technology at nine airports in the UK, Cyprus and Portugal, we will be introducing the technology across our network this summer. We anticipate that it will be fully operational at around 350 locations by 2020. So, look out for the new technology at your local airport!
