Sterling Pilot Scholar receives PPL

Back in September Stephen Daly from the Republic of Ireland became our fourth Sterling Pilot Scholar. We are now proud to reveal that Stephen has officially received his Private Pilot's Licence (PPL).

The handover ceremony took place on 22 November in London and was hosted by the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. Stephen completed his PPL at Sherburn Aero Club in Leeds, UK.

His school noted in their final report: “In the future, there will be a lucky airline somewhere.”

We are immensely proud of Stephen and his dedication and enthusiasm for pursuing his aspirations. He now hopes to attend the University of Limerick in 2019 to study Aeronautical Engineering. We look forward to following his success and in the meantime the search for our next scholar is on. Interested parties can apply here.

With the global pilot shortage a real industry concern, schemes like our Sterling Pilot Scholarship are critical in creating an environment that supports aspiring young pilots. Our investment in the scholarship also underpins our desire to support the wider aviation community by encouraging young people to gain a better understanding of the importance of a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education for their future.
